The Accommodation

Blackside is a classic stone Scottish cottage that has been carefully modernised without losing its character. It sits at the end of a private farm track near the village of Sorn surrounded by open countryside.
The main thing guests notice first, and mention most in reviews, is the peace and quiet.

No passing traffic and no background noise. Just the countryside.

Ground Floor

Living room with wood-burning stove (unlimited logs supplied), comfortable seating, and 32” Smart TV with Netflix and Freeview. Fully equipped kitchen with Smeg cooker, dishwasher, washer-dryer, and Nespresso machine. Traditional stable door - open the top half to bring the countryside air in while keeping dogs safely inside.

First Floor

King-size bed with a mattress guests consistently single out in reviews. The bedroom looks across the dog field, with the windmill visible on the hillside. Sunset views to the west across to Arran on clear days can be seen from the bedroom and outside grounds. Luxury bathroom with an oversized roll-top bathtub and handheld shower. Walk-in wardrobe with ample storage.

Blackside Cottage is a dog lover's paradise. Your dogs have a fully enclosed 2.5-acre field where they can run freely off-leash. The surrounding countryside offers endless walking trails, and you're just 5 minutes away from The River Ayr Way and other spectacular walks.

We provide dog beds, towels, and treats. Dogs are genuinely welcome here - this is their holiday too.

Stunning Location

The cottage is enclosed by its own land - woodland, a burn-fed pond, open hillside - which gives it a sense of seclusion that no garden could match. Herons, cormorants, and ducks use the pond throughout the year.

Beyond the boundary, open countryside begins immediately: walks in every direction, with panoramic views that on clear days reach the Isle of Arran and, further still, the Paps of Jura over 70 miles away.

Wildlife and Nature

Step outside and you're surrounded by nature. Regularly spotted wildlife includes roe deer at dawn and dusk, squirrels in the woods, pheasants, hares, buzzards overhead, and if you're lucky, barn owls hunting at twilight. Red kites and woodpeckers are frequent visitors.
